Historical Highlights

  • Tuesday, July 16, 2002, strategic development meeting at the Ellis Baptist Association office to plant a church in Red Oak

  • Sunday, August 11, 2002, Dr. Roy Cotton, guest preacher at FBC Waxahachie.  The message was “Seeking Harvesters” - Matthew 9:35-38 

  • Tuesday, August 13, 2002, New Church Covenant approved by BGCT, EBA, FBC Waxahachie and The “Exciting” Singing Hills Baptist Church 

  • Saturday, August 17, 2002, 16 persons meet (in the home of Jon & Sheryl Lumbley of Red Oak) for the purpose of organizing a new church in Red Oak and the surrounding communities

  • Saturday, October 26, 2002, 94 attend the first service for CenterPointe Baptist Church for the Communities in the Red Oak Intermediate School, 401 E. Ovilla Road. Pastor Cotton’s first message was “The Heartbeat of our Mission” - Mark 12:28-31 

  • CenterPointe has set aside 4 men for the Deacon ministry: Curtis Rosmon, the late Billy J. Pruitt, the late Victor D. Malone Sr. and Deacon Ron Hill.

  • Many have professed faith in Jesus Christ over the years and have been baptized

  • Several children have been dedicated to the Lord.

  • The church has been involved in the Red Oak, Ovilla, Glenn Heights and DeSoto communities

  • Pastor Cotton served as the first pastor for the first 5 years

  • Rev. James Jones Jr. served as the second pastor of CenterPointe Church for 4 years (2007-11)

  • Pastor Cotton was named “Pastor Emeritus” in 2010

  • Pastor Cotton served as Interim Pastor for 49 months (September 2011 to October 2015)

  • CenterPointe Baptist Church for the Communities is constituted at FBC Waxahachie on March 30, 2014

  • Minister Theo D. Peugh Sr. is unanimously elected third pastor of CenterPointe on Sunday June 21, 2015

  • Minister Peugh is Ordained to the Gospel Ministry on Saturday - October 24, 2015 at New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where Rev. James Jones Jr. also served as pastor. Sermon by Pastor Jones: “Walk Worthy of the Call” - Ephesians 4:1-13

  • Pastor’s Installation Service for Rev. Theo D. Peugh Sr. on Sunday - October 25, 2015 at FBC Waxahachie. Pastor Cotton’s message: “Pastor & People: Advancing God’s Kingdom through Good Works” - Ephesians 2:10

  • CenterPointe relocates from Red Oak to its current location in the Summer of 2017.
